What people say

Lisa

What can I say?! Thank you so much for bringing me this far. I honestly don't know where I'd be without you. I am so grateful.

Samira

I will say now I have nice things to say about myself and be proud of myself in lots of ways. I have learned to silence that critical voice. Being calm feels very rewarding.

Craig

You helped me understand me.

I am an experienced Specialist Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have worked in the NHS and private psychological services for 10 years. I work with adults, young people, and families with a range of emotional difficulties including anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem and self-confidence, emotional regulation difficulties, stress, relationship difficulties and trauma.

I believe in working with individuals and their families in an open, non-judgmental and collaborative way, in order to create a shared understanding of the difficulties, and support you to achieve your goals and make meaningful changes.

Our work together would begin with a psychological assessment, followed by a personalised therapy plan tailored to each individual. I work in an integrative manner, incorporating skills from a number of different therapy models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My training includes a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych), Advanced Clinical Skills In Compassion Focused Therapy and, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

Clinical Psychologist

I am a registered Specialist Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I use an integrative approach in therapy and will think with you about which treatment models most suit your needs. The models which I will draw on include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Taking the first step to come to therapy can often be a difficult and a brave one and I believe that providing a safe and compassionate space is the only way to sensitively understand the difficulties that have arisen for you. I will first look to understand your story and then together we will find ways of developing skills to overcome your difficulties and work towards meaningful change, based on evidence-based practice.

Being stuck with distress can feel very overwhelming and confusing. I work in ways that recognize how far you have come to cope and we will draw on these strengths in the work that we do. I always adapt my approach to your needs and unique background.

My areas of interest include working with people with: anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress and burnout, phobias, panic, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder and those who have experienced adverse life events and psychological trauma. I especially enjoy working with children and young people and thinking about the process of change at that
transitional stage in their lives. Alongside private practice, I work in a specialist NHS service with people who have experienced psychological trauma.

My qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology and Neuroscience from Keele University and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) from the University of Oxford.
I have further training in Compassion Focused Therapy and Narrative Exposure Therapy.

Currently offering online only.

As an experienced Specialist Clinical Psychologist, I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am proud to have worked in the NHS for 9 years to date.

I understand that turning towards your difficulties and starting personal therapy can feel overwhelming and even frightening, and I strive to provide a compassionate and non-judgemental environment to support you in this process.

I recognise that living with psychological distress can feel isolating, and that it is all too easy to carry the burden of shame and self-blame. I am passionate about supporting people to understand how their difficulties have arisen and, in particular, how their unique life experiences and personal traumas may have contributed to their distress. From this collaborative understanding, I support people to implement interventions and strategies for coping that relieve distress and achieve meaningful change.

I enjoy working with both adults and young people who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety and mood disorders, trauma related difficulties and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), relationship issues and difficulties managing emotions and stress. I work in an integrative manner, drawing on a number of evidence-based therapy models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My qualifications include a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych), a Masters in Psychology (MSc), a Post Graduate Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies (PGCert), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy training to level 3 (full qualification) and extensive training in Compassion Focused Therapy

Ellie Ewbank

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT Therapist) and a registered member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I also hold graduate membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH). My training includes a BSc. In Psychology and MSc. In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I have a passion for person-centred care and believe that therapy can be more helpful when it is tailored to the individual, rather than a particular difficulty. I take an integrative approach, including  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Skills where appropriate for a particular client. I have received advanced training in CBT for insomnia, and motivational interviewing. These techniques compliment my work across a range of mental health difficulties.

I enjoy working with children and adolescents (age 11+) and adults. I am experienced in working with a wide variety of clients and presenting difficulties, not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, low self-esteem, self-harm, emotion dysregulation, and adjustment difficulties (including long-term health conditions).

I have experience working with clients with Neurological conditions, having worked closely with Headway groups both as a clinician and Trustee in the past. I am keeping this clinical interest alive through my work on an innovative, collaborative project called ‘Inspire Others’ with colleagues in the field.

Helping people overcome challenges is something that I really value, and I feel very privileged to share in a clients’ journey at what is often a vulnerable time in their lives. I encourage and enable clients to facilitate the necessary changes in their life to achieve their personal goals.
